Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to send you a message to
say thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my mission trip to
Guatemala this summer. I also wanted to give you an update on how my team has
been preparing and what God has been doing in my life this summer so far! My team has raised all the
support we need through selling cookie dough, sending out support letters,
selling suckers, and working a spaghetti dinner! We have also been meeting for prayer and devotions, learning
songs, having drama practices, fasting and praying together, doing paperwork,
and writing our testimonies in preparation for this trip. Just writing about it makes me shake
with excitement in anticipation of the incredible things God is going to do on
this trip and the lives that will be changed. This is all made possible through
your support, especially through prayer!
So far this summer God has provided
me with two very exciting opportunities that relate to missions! The first was through my school, Judson
University. I received a
scholarship to attend the International Ministries World Mission Conference,
which I accepted. It was an
incredible experience. I got to
meet dozens on missionaries from all over the world who work in all different
types of ministry. All of them have an incredible story of how God brought them
to those places. I learned a lot
about the process of becoming a missionary and all the things that that
entails, which was more than I had previously thought! We spent time in worship sessions
praising God in all different languages, hearing stories from missionaries, and
exploring Scripture to learn more about a call to missions.
The other opportunity I’ve had is
getting a job as an intern with the Missions Department at Crossings Community
Church in Oklahoma City! I am
learning a lot about what a missions pastor does. I have been helping with many
events, including VBS. Currently, I am helping with Sports Camp, a ministry for
inner city kids at a downtown school as part of their local ministry. I’m also
writing children’s ministry curriculum to teach kids in the church about
missions and how they can be missionaries, ect. I will be working here until August 15th.
This summer has already been
incredible and I haven’t even been to Guatemala yet! =) Through these two
opportunities and more, God has been confirming my call and growing my
relationship with Him. I would
greatly appreciate it if you would pray for these things as I continue to follow
my calling and prepare for my trip to Guatemala:
·
Safety during travel and while in country. I will be flying to Guatemala by myself
and arriving an hour before my team.
·
No problems getting through customs by myself.
·
Health- Pray that no one gets sick!
·
Ministry: We will be in orphanages, school
assemblies, and churches giving testimonies, performing dramas, singing worship
songs, etc.
·
Team members-pray for each team
member, that God would work in and through them.
Thank you so much for your prayers!
I will do my best to keep you updated after I get back. I started a blog awhile back, and I will try to keep up with
it a little better starting now! You can find that at: amorypaz06.blogspot.com I’ll be posting pictures, journal
entries from my trip, Scriptures that God lays on my heart, notes from my
missions classes, school updates, and other updates on my journey in this call
to missions. Feel free to share it
with anyone who might have interest! =) You can also email me if you have any
questions or would like more info than you can find on my blog:
miranda.jones@student.judsonu.edu. Thank you again and again for your
support! I’m so blessed by you
all!
Dios Te Bendiga!
